Purpose of the Reiki Method of Mikao Usui

To strengthen our own happiness in life and that of others.

According to Mikao Usui, the key to a peaceful and happy life are these precepts.
From out a moral point of view these precepts are similar to other spiritual precepts from other angles. The precepts of the Usui Reiki Ryoho method are mentioned to help us to be aware of ourselves and our ability to function as a human being; and to purify our physical body and energy channels, so that life energy freely can flow, as to speak - to lift us to a higher level.
The addition - for today - comes from the idea that this kind of ideals gradually may acquire, by a constant exercise with close attention and deep intention.
Mikao Usui really inspires you to apply these precepts for the only time that matters, for the only time that really exists: in this moment, by now. Each moment that you live in this awareness - is a way for you to work on yourself. Not with the meaning to consider these precepts of life as a burden, but rather as a guide for you to be aware of your emotions and what they do with you. They give you a deeper understanding of the person you really are.

What is Reiki? How does it works?

I think that most people already know the word Reiki, have heard of it, but they have no idea what it actually is. In the course of the years since 1998 that I came in contact with Reiki I have heard already many questions like:
Is it a sect? Is it somehow religious? Is it a massage technique? Can it be dangerous? And if they are aware of Reiki as a universal life energy: is it possible to abuse Reiki in a negative sense?
The answer to this type of questions is unanimous 'no'. It has nothing to do with any kind of religion. It is not a tangible, physical technique and for all, Reiki is completely safe!

It is good that people ares curious about the phenomenon Reiki. And of course that calls for knowledge, science. Also, there are already so many theories. And nobody really knows exactly how to describe Reiki.

Even Mikao Usui was not able to give an answer to that question. In the Handbook of Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai he says: "This method has been given to me by anyone, nor have I studied to get psychological power to be able to heal. Just by accident I realized my healing power, the air I felt in a very mysterious way during the fasting period on the mountain. Therefore it is difficult to explain exactly, even though I am the founder. studied and intelligent people have studied the phenomenon, but modern science is not able to comprehend Reiki. But I think that comprehension comes in a natural way. Even the founder Mikao Usui felt lost when he had to describe Reiki.

And frankly, nobody knows it! You cannot understand Reiki with your intellect, but you only are able to comprehense it, when you experience it by itself to feel. By practicing Reiki or 'to do', you slowly but surely will experience that you 'are' Reiki. Reiki, however, is formless, but everywhere around us. You can not touch it, but you can breathe it in with each inhalation; you use it in every thought and every movement. By 'doing Reiki' you are in the moment of unity, or call it wholeness, as Mikao Usui also experienced.
There is quite a difference between 'to know the path' and 'to walk over the path'. Everything you have read so far about Reiki is 'to know the path'. But in Reiki 'we pursue the path'.
And if you still do not understand, then I can only make it clear to you that you are Reiki! You are this universal life energy, now - and already from the moment you saw the light and the umbilical cord was broken. Reiki or universal life energy flows everywhere and in everything.

Reiki I either the first degree in Reiki either Shoden (beginner) is the first step in the process Reiki. In this course you will learn to know the first principles of the Reikisysteem and you will receive an initiation or inauguration from a Reikimaster/teacher. This initation is the only thing you need to be able to use the spiritual healing and Reiki energy for your own life, yourself, but also for your own environment and others. And not only for mature people, but also for children and for animals and plants.

Mikao Usui was a practitioner of the Japanese arts of fighting. At the beginning of the 20th century he developed a spiritual system based on a way of working with life energy. He firmly was convinced that it is possible to be connected more and in a better way with your life, feeling more relaxed, less emotionally unbalanced and even physically healthier - by purifying the body by means of this energy. The techniques to achieve this he was looking into the meditation and hands-on healing. Although it started as a way for personal development, it has been evolved into a method that not only can help yourself but also others.

The Reikisysteem uses the universal life energy to boost the self-healing-power on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. The Japanese word Reiki means therefore spiritual energy.
It is a unique system because it allows a good health for yourself but also for others. Of course it is always possible that you may be treated by anyone who is already working with Reiki, but above all the system teaches you to take your own responsibility in its application.
The system of Usui Reiki Ryoho has 3 levels:
Shoden, Okuden and Shinpiden.
In summary:
The first level is the beginnersgrade in the Japanese 'Shoden', in which you get acquainted with the Reikisystem and its principles. You learn how to use Reiki for yourself and others.
The second level, the Japanese 'Okuden', gives you tools to work towards a deepening and strengthening of the universal energy, and teaches you treatments of others professionally.
And the third level, Masterlevel, the Japanese 'Shinpiden', you will learn how to develop yourself but also others spiritually, with all the tools. You learn for teacher (Shihan).

Gassho

Gassho means' two hands come together. "
The left hand represents the moon in the esoteric Buddhism, the right hand the sun. Each finger of both hands also represents one of the five elements:

emptiness, air, fire, water and earth (from thumb to little finger).

The fingertips represent insight, activity, observation, responsiveness and form (from thumb to pink). From esoteric view the sun, moon and all the elements come together, when you join your hands together. The circle is closed.
Concentration of our attention on the middle fingers points out to the aspect of fire during the meditation: the awareness is connecting to the unconscious elements.
